Mandatory Entry Requirements
- Valid Passport or National ID Citizens of EU/EEA/Swiss countries may enter with a valid national identity card. All other travellers must hold a passport valid for the entire duration of their stay. Italy visa portal
- Schengen Visa (if required) Many non-EU nationalities must obtain a Schengen visa issued by Italy before travelling. Visa-exempt visitors may stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period without a visa. Check visa requirement

- Proof of Accommodation A hotel booking confirmation, rental agreement, or a written invitation from a host in Italy may be requested. Hotels are required to register foreign guests with local police within 24 hours of arrival. Entry and stay in Italy

- Return or Onward Ticket Border officers may ask for proof of a return or onward flight to confirm you intend to leave Italy within your permitted stay period, particularly for non-EU visitors arriving from outside the Schengen Area. Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- ETIAS Authorisation (from 2025) The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will require visa-exempt non-EU nationals to obtain pre-travel authorisation online before visiting Italy and the wider Schengen Area. ETIAS official site
